How do I know if my child has asthma or just recurrent colds?
Suspect asthma when cough or wheeze recurs without fever, appears with running, laughing or cold air, regularly disturbs sleep, or improves quickly with inhaled reliever medicine — especially in a child with eczema, allergic sneezing, or a family history of asthma. Recurrent colds cause symptoms only during infections. A pediatrician distinguishes the two by pattern and examination.

Understanding
Common Triggers in Gurgaon Children
House dust mites — the biggest indoor allergen in bedding and soft toys
Winter air pollution — Gurgaon's AQI spikes drive asthma flares every year
Pollen seasons and mould in the monsoon
Viral colds — the top trigger of wheezing in young children
Pet dander, smoke, incense and strong fragrances at home
Foods — milk, egg, peanut and tree nuts head the list in Indian children
Our approach
How We Care for Your Child at Siraa Health
Pattern-based diagnosis
A structured symptom history usually beats blanket allergy panels. We test selectively — skin or blood tests only where results will change management.
Controller vs reliever, explained
The daily preventer inhaler stops attacks; the blue reliever rescues them. Families who understand this distinction control asthma — we make sure you do.
Technique is everything
An inhaler used wrongly delivers almost nothing. Spacer technique is taught, demonstrated back, and rechecked at every visit.
A written action plan
Green–yellow–red zones: what to give daily, what to step up during colds and smog, and exactly when to seek help. School gets a copy too.

Evidence-based care
Every decision guided by the latest pediatric science

“We were told to wait and see. We did not, and I am so glad. The therapist identified exactly what was holding him back. Six months later he is chatting non-stop.”

Questions
What parents usually ask us
Are inhalers safe for young children? Will they become dependent?+
Inhalers are the safest way to treat asthma at any age — the medicine goes to the lungs, so doses are tiny compared with syrups or tablets. There is no dependence; children need them because they have asthma, and many need less medicine as they grow.
Will my child outgrow asthma?+
Many children — especially those who wheeze only with viral colds — improve substantially or outgrow symptoms by school age. Children with allergies, eczema and strong family history are more likely to have persisting asthma. Either way, good control now protects growing lungs.
Should we do a full allergy panel test?+
Broad panels create more confusion than answers — children often show positive results to foods they eat without any problem. We test for specific suspects raised by the history. Diagnosis drives testing, not the other way around.
Can my child with asthma play sports?+
Yes — and they should. With regular preventer treatment, correct warm-up, and a reliever available, children with asthma can play any sport. Exercise symptoms usually mean control needs adjusting, not that sport should stop.
What do we do if a food causes lip swelling?+
Stop the food, give the prescribed antihistamine, and watch closely. Lip or face swelling with any breathing change, widespread hives, vomiting or drowsiness is treated as anaphylaxis — emergency care immediately. Afterwards, we assess formally and build an avoidance and emergency plan.
